Sale sacro
Sacred Salt
It is the beginning of a journey in search of the self, of one's nature, with a look towards an archaic past that tries to be reflected in the present and the future. I start from the sea, from the salt, asking myself: why are our blood, sweat and tears salty? On the shore of a pink water that calms and reassures emotional energies, we advance into a salt marsh, which becomes pure crystal and is filled with light after six million years in the dark, the white acts on the psyche like a great silence. The sacredness of an element that binds us to life. The naked bodies embody the environments, they relive them, they become earth, light, shadow, rock, in a continuous dialogue between internal and external landscapes. I looked for isolated, abandoned and forgotten yet evocative and exciting places, where a man, by immersion, can become self-aware, and where things take on the colours of emotions. The journey, the changes of season, reflect the passage of time, the passage of humanity, which despite its small presence on Earth has changed its ecosystems and climate in irreversible and impactful ways. The cycle ends in an embrace between a man and a woman. A woman who, ideally, takes on the role of nature itself and ultimately becomes the subject of metamorphosis. We will disappear, the mannequin will remain, not destined to become a man.
